The Chengdu Universiade is the third Universiade to be held in mainland China after the 2001 Beijing Universiade and the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade, and the first time that western China has hosted a world-class comprehensive Games. This year's Universiade has 18 major sports and 269 minor sports, and will produce 269 gold medals. College sports delegations from 113 countries and regions and the Chinese delegation of more than 700 people, together to participate in the Games all 18 major events.

In the cultural and sports performance “The Light of Youth”, the 3,000-year-old Jinsha stone chime was struck. The sacred flame disk with the pattern of the “Sun God Bird” was slowly raised. Astronaut Ye Guangfu and 31 other torchbearers entered the venue with their torches held high. In the limelight, the torchbearers ran to the front of the sacred flame disk, formed a circle, and used the torch in their hands to ignite the “Sun God Bird”, which instantly shone brightly. The Olympic flame burned brightly, conveying the good wishes of university students all over the world to be as bright as the sunshine.

The opening ceremony site used CKC-V20 (double show four-in-one full-featured moving head light), using the most practical significance of the double show refers to the 1400W LED light source, color rendering index of 95/70 random switching, the whole lamp output luminous flux 53000 Lm (high brightness mode) / 32000 Lm (high show mode).
